Working at the CIBER Office at Michigan State University has proved to be an invaluable experience for me. Upon entering my first internship in my junior year of college, I already felt prepared to step into a corporate environment after working in the office for three full years. Working at CIBER has taught me how to work with a team with regards to long-term projects, how to manage my time between work and classes, and it has also allowed me to form relationships with my peers and supervisors. I believe it has truly given me an advantage when it comes to the interview and job search process, and will continue to prepare me as I take on my first full-time role this summer. Not only has working here allowed me to have success in my career path, but it has also allowed me to utilize my international knowledge in my own work experiences thus far. For my internship with Nissan in 2016, I was able to travel to Mexico with fellow co-workers to speak with suppliers about the current logistics processes used by each supplier. Being a Spanish minor and having worked throughout my years in college in a role that emphasizes international business, this experience greatly benefited me and my knowledge of the world around me. I can say firsthand through interviewing with multiple companies that employers today are currently looking for more employees with international skills than ever before. These skills themselves are becoming more of a requirement than simply an advantage. My experience at CIBER has helped me to land my internship and future full-time job, and I have no doubt that I will use these experiences throughout the rest of my professional life.
